Pick a Pup

Every Child can be a Reading Star! If you could pick a pup, what pup would you pick? Who would you have to ask to pick a pup? In this book, a girl asks her mom and her dad if she can pick a pup. In this charming beginning reader, a bi-racial family sets out to adopt a dog. Even though their daughter doesn't know it yet, mom and dad have already decided a new pet will soon be part of their family. Simple sentences like, "I wanted to pick a pup." and, "I asked my dad, "Can I pick a pup?"" use repetition to reenforce learning. A familiar situation of a child asking both parents (and hearing them both respond with encouragement to ask the other parent) will have both kids and adults smiling in recognition.
